Ahead of the curve

Today Matt mentioned something that i was supposed to do for Savannah's school.
I said, "Oh, i've already done that. I'm WAY ahead of the curve."
Savannah said "Yeah she's so far ahead she is going to fall off."
I love that girl

Cyberspace.

Is anybody out there? Does anyone actually read this? I feel like i'm talking to myself. You know anyone can add comments! Then at least i wouldn't feel like my special memories are being lost in cyberspace. :)

What goes on at the leininger home...

I couldn't get the video to load, but trust me, it WAS NOT quiet!

For all his grumpiness at least he is good sleeper!

Lost

"I got lost today." Savannah informed me after her first day of school. Since she had obviously survived i didn't panic. Apparently she was swinging at recess and didn't see her class leaving the playground. When she suddenly realized her class was gone she asked another teacher for help. They took her to her room, but her class had already gone to lunch. When Savannah joined them in the lunchroom the teacher sighed with relief. Apparently she hadn't done a head count until they were in the lunch room. When she realized someone was missing she had no idea where she had lost a student, or whom she had lost! Matt asked if Savannah had gotten in trouble. Savannah said "No, she was just glad she found me." : )

Second Grade

I can't believe Savannah is in second grade! Her teachers are Mrs Manning, (Homeroom, science, and Math) and Mrs Miller(Language Arts and Social studies). She is so grown up. i can't stand it. I'm so proud of her. Last weekend she and Isabelle wanted to do something special to surprise me, so they cleaned their room with out being asked. They even vaccummed, dusted and made their beds. They are so sweet. I feel like the kid on incredibles. "I love our family."

Triathalon

Matt and his brother Aaron competed in a triathalon on Saturday. Here are some pictures.

Here is the best part. At the very end of the race Matt was running towards the finish line when the man behind him (who had been walking and then running the whole race)... started to pass Matt.
Suddenly Matt decided that nobody who walked was going to beat him,

so he put on a burst of speed...

...and they raced to the finish line! It was the best part of the race!
Matt had a lot of fun and looks forward to racing again soon.

(preferably with either a shirt or a tan!)

Gardening and Canning

I am TOTALLY enjoying Preserving our fresh garden fruits and vegetables. This has been a new adventure for me. So far this year i've learned to make strawberry preserves, tomato soup, and yummy salsa. I'm so proud of myself. Someday i will get real mason jars, but for now i just use recycled jars (from jelly, applesauce, salsa etc) they seem to work just fine, and so far none have come unsealed. We are trying to keep this as cost effective as possible, since that is the main reason we have a garden in the first place. We are already planning our garden for next year which includes a green house that we are planning for this fall. YAY!

2 Month Baby Stats

Adam had his two month checkup along with all the shots. Yikes. His stats are:

weight: 12 lbs 3 oz --50%
height: 23" --50%
head: 15 3/4" (40cm) --50%

So he continues to be an average sized baby. Funny thing is by two months savannah was 90% on weight and 50% height, but i think Adam eats twice as much!

They said "Sure, put him here."

Pacifier

Adam is a pacifier baby. Honestly he would probably suck on anything i put in his mouth. Yesterday when we were running errands i was holding him on my shoulder and heard a slurping sound. When i looked he had his wrist in his mouth. On Closer inspection i realized that he had been sucking his wrist so much he had given himself a hicky!

Savannah's Shoes

Savannah's feet have grown two sizes this summer! I finally got some time and took her shoe shopping. She needed church and school shoes. She loved her church shoes so much that she asked me to take a picture.

Style all her own

Isabelle is such a fun girl. She is really creative and likes to do things her own way. Here she is sporting the "Double-Sunglasses" look This is my favortie of her dress up costumes. It is actually a rainbow tu-tu from her dance recital with a feather boa wrapped around it and worn as a hat. I love that girl.

Zoo

We went to the NC Zoo last week. (on August 8th) HOLY COW it is a giant zoo! And it is built on a hill. (the center of the zoo being the top of the hill) We did SOOOO much walking. (mostly uphill) we have all been tired ever since. (three days later). It was a funny trip. it is a two hour drive to get there, but it took us three because we had to stop SO MANY TIMES! you would think a four year old could go at least an hour before needing a restroom, but not ours! Also we needed to stop at the gas station, a grocery store, and to feed the baby. It was rather rediculous. when we finally got to the zoo we had a great time. (the drive really wasn't too bad either bedcause we are so silly.)
I took lots of pictures. I'll post some.
One of the first exhibits we went to was the elephants and Isabelle loved it! While we were standing there watching the closest one she said "I can't believe I saw a really real elephant!"Isabelle and a rhino.
Matt taught Savannah how to read a map and she was our navigator.

Savannah decided she is too big for the stroller!

Adam did not appreciate the zoo very much. It was hot and he was cranky. In the hottest part of the day we went to the air-conditioned puffin exhibit where I wrapped him in his blanket and rocked him to sleep. Then he and I rested there for 2 hours while matt and the girls went to see more animals. (for me it was the most relaxing part of the day!)

We had a great trip and lots of fun. We bought annual passes that also include all of the NC aquariums and some other things. So we'll be visiting other things soon.

Camping

We went camping last weekend to Kerr Lake on the NC VA border. It was beautiful. We camped right on the shore of the lake. It rained at first, but just before sunset it stopped and the most beautiful rainbow appeared. We were there with several families from our ward (it was a ward campout) and we all enjoyed ourselves. Saturday morning was beautiful. We took the kayaks out on the lake and Matt took all the kids swimming. There were 10 little girls who had a lot of fun playing together and climbing trees. Adam was such a good baby. He slept pretty good. (although Matt and i didn't because Adam is a bit of a restless sleeper. he grunted all night) But he cried very little and there were plenty of hands to hold him. All in all we were very glad we went and had a great time!
Savannah and Isabelle ready to swim. Isabelle is not crying, just making a funny face. She is a tease!
